RiverWorks

RiverWorks is an advisory, brokerage and facilitation 'one-stop-shop' service offered to landholders, landcare and rivercare groups, Catchment Management Authorities (and similar) and local government, through which advice is provided on project design, development and implementation.

RiverWorks is designed to fill the gap that currently exists between government programs and riverine and floodplain landholders; working with and listening to the unique needs of each landholder or landcare/rivercare group etc, to help them design robust projects, have them funded and then implemented.  This form of mentoring service is designed to build capacity among landholders and groups.

A major emphasis of RiverWorks will be on measures to improve water use efficiency by the irrigation sector.  Seeking win-win outcomes, such as that achieved recently for Yatco Lagoon in South Australia (see link at right for more about this project) will be a focus of RiverWorks.

RiverWorks also seeks to encourage broader adoption (by CMAs and local governments in particular) of incentive measures, including broad-scale programs such as River Tender, that will help to mobilise actions at the local or river reach scale.

Recognising the need to build capacity across the board, RiverSkills is a complimentary stream that can facilitate this happening.
